In episode 68 of Parenting Impossible, host Annette Hines speaks with special needs mother Leah Moore. Leah is not only a mother of three, but also a writer and high school English teacher. As a writer, she has been featured in several publications including Today’s Kids in Motion Magazine and has her own blog, Loving You Big. Leah is currently working on her first book as well.
Leah’s life changed after her daughter, Jordan was diagnosed with Cri Du Chat syndrome – a rare chromosomal disability. Doctors told Leah her daughter may never walk or talk, but today Jordan is dancing through life.
Annette and Leah begin the podcast with a discussion about navigating distance learning as a teacher working from home while still parenting three children. “Each day my husband and I are trying to be positive while losing our minds. Every day is either a ten or a one, there’s no in-between,” according to Leah.
The two women also address what inspired Leah’s blog and book. “I wanted to write with humor, even with the heaviness I felt,” said Leah. The blog is focused on everyday life and the challenges Leah and her family face.
Leah and Jordan also appeared in a documentary about Cri Du Chat to help spread awareness about the rare syndrome.
